If you have an 825 then repeat last 3 commands for port 1/1. Which is currently available from Ĭommands courtesy of : esxcli software vib install -no-sig-check -maintenance-mode -d For future readers of this you need the "VMware ESXi 5.5 BCU - ESX CLI plug-in". (storage-processor enclosure) for VNX5700, and VNX7500 + at least one DAE for. Thanks so much for the pointer Basil! This put me on the right track. 3U DPE (disk-processor enclosure) for VNX5100,VNX5300,and VNX5500 or 2U SPE. I feel like I've tried everything.įor future readers of this. The port it showing as up at 8Gb and the light is solid green on the back of the SAN and HBA.Īny help is much appreciated. But as we have a 3 host licence I can't connect up this host until it is working properly. I'm aware there is a vSphere plugin for this.

Deleted the space in the middle and added a colon.Īdvanced: Arra圜ommPath(LUN Z) is checked and Unit Serial Number is Array (I've tried LUN as well) WWN: Copied and pasted from the ESXi storage adapters section.

The host is connected directly to the back of the SAN, we can't afford a switch and I didn't believe it was necessary. ESXi can't see any devices or paths (it sees the card with its two ports). The problem I'm having is that despite adding the new host to a new storage group containing our 3 LUNs and setting up a host initiator for the fibre channel connection.

The existing hosts are connected to our EMC VNX 5300 SAN using gigabit ethernet which is a pretty horrible bottleneck, so I bought this server equipped with a Brocade 825 Fibre Channel card. The blades have ESXi 5.1 with the newest enet and fnic drivers from cisco installed. We've just bought a new Dell PowerEdge R620 to replace the oldest of our 3 hosts in our vSphere cluster. I have the newest UC 2.1(2)a firmware installed. When howerver i try to uplod an ISO file say 2.5gb in size to a datastore is taking roughly 2 and half hours. The show flogi on the 5ks shows everything logged in and as i said before i can see the LUNs on the blades. Some background info: We currently use a Dell EMC VNX 5300 on which we have a LUN configured which is succefully used by the Alpha systems we use. The hosts are not boot from SAN for now, they are booted off USB flash storage on the blade. I essentially followed the cisco guide on how to do this: UCS has a seperate pair of fcoe port channels from the 5k fabric down to the FI's (using twinax leads). I'm at a loss on how to troubleshoot this further. The SAN is connected to the fabric with LC fibre om3 + 10gb SR SFP's. The VMware mode is set to round robin and the EMC side ALUA 4. I can see the pathing in vmware on the vhbas all is up and active. UCS 5108 Chassis -> 6248UP FI's -> Pair of N5k's (5548) -> EMC VNX 5300 2 port FCoE 10gig card x2Įverything is functional - i can fc ping from n5k fabrics to the EMC pwwn. Having a performance issue with FCoE multihop from UCS.
